Civilization V is Headed to the Steam Workshop

With the success of Skyrim on the Steam Workshop, it was only a matter of time before other big titles began following suit. On Friday, 2K announced in a blog post that Civilization V would begin using the Steam Workshop for mods.

When Civ 5 first launched, it contained support for mods directly inside the game, but going the Steam Workshop route will open things up even more. You’ll be able to share mods collections with friends, favorite mods, and even browse them outside the game.

There’s no word on a date for this integration, but the blog post mentions it in conjunction with the upcoming Gods and Kings expansion, so it may be bundled into that release. As soon as we know more, we’ll let you know.
