Classic Week Is A Dragon Age Sized “Take That” To MMORPGs

bridge_battleWell, this is rather hilarious. In case the announcement of Dragon Age II has you on edge, and if the cascade of Dragon Age: Origins DLC hasn’t been cascadey enough, here’s a little mod that might just fill the hole. Modder Mengtzu dropped this back in May – it’s called Classic Week (and no, we can’t figure out WTF that title is supposed to mean), and it aims to give dedicated Dragon Agers the MMORPG experience without the M, M or O. With over 6 hours of game play, it promises a fresh take on existing Dragon Age locations, fast paced and action heavy Boss encounters, and other goodies.

It’s also an extremely deconstructionist take on the MMORPGs. Single player, for starters, with the lack of other gamers is more than made up for by in-game chatter that parodies inter-player dialogue in online games. No word on whether or not the NPC PCs will be full of the same winning combination of immaturity and racism that you find on Xbox Live, but it’s a great idea nonetheless. You can grab a copy here.

“Classic Week” refers to the in-fiction festival that is going on when you start the campaign.

This is definitely worth playing. It’s not any harder to install than the official add-ons. You just download the dazip and use daupdater, then find it under “Other Campaigns”. It doesn’t change your base game or other saves in any way, and it’s mostly bug-free.

Be warned though, the difficulty is intentionally very high, but fair.
