Codemaster Nixed GRID 2 Cockpit View Because No one Used It
So you might have heard that players are a bit miffed about GRID 2. OH, not because it exists; it’s been 4 years and people really want to play. No, they’re pissed off because G2 will ship with one of the original game’s features removed: you won’t have the ability to drive with a view from inside the vehicle cockpit.
But before you get up in arms about how Codemasters has really ruined the game, bear in mind that they based the decision on customer data. Talking to Eurogamer, executive producer Clive Moody explained what happened:
There seems to be some confusion about where we get our data from to help us make these decisions. While we do use research and focus groups, the most important data source for us is the enormous amount of telemetry data we can obtain from our servers that tells us exactly how and what our players are doing across all our games. So it’s not a case of just a sample of people we’ve spoken to in research, it’s a fact that only 5% of Codemasters Racing game players ever used the in-car view.
So there you go. You killed cockpit view, people. So go find a mirror and hang your head in shame. Because you’re a murderer.
