Comic-Con 2011: Skyrim Gameplay Footage Is Majestic (VIDEO)

Seems like every time there’s a new piece of Skyrim news, the game sounds better and better. First there was the game’s impressive E3 presentation. Then Bethesda CEO Todd Howard promised not to gimp the game graphically to cater to the PC market. Then he reiterated the team’s commitment to modding, even hoping to have mod tools ready “on launch day.”

All of this, though, pales in comparison to the footage available below. The game’s new engine looks spectacular, rendering lush foliage and decent-looking human beings, placating those who fear the specter of Gamebryo. The combat looks varied and visceral. And the dragons — just look at all those dragons!

Update: ZeniMax Media, Bethesda’s parent company, took down the video. We’re working on finding another version

Most of that footage was from the E3 showing, just with the commentary removed. The horseback footage is new, and a tiny bit of a dragon fight, but not much else. Looks great though, I am not complaining.
