Comic-Con 2012 Roundup

If you missed any of the major video game announcements at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, don’t fret — we’ve compiled this handy list of noteworthy news snippets to get you caught up. In no particular order, here we go…

Assassin’s Creed 3

The game's multiplayer component will have a cooperative mode called “Wolf Pack” in which you’ll team up with up to three other players against computer-controlled enemies. Your goal is to assassinate certain targets in a set period of time while having to contend with decoys and lookouts. A batch of Assassin's Creed 3 multiplayer screenshots were released. Rumors that Assassin’s Creed 3 for PC will be delayed sprang up, but were quickly squelched.

Beyond Two Souls

David Cage's new opus will be bigger and more complex than Heavy Rain. Two new actors join Ellen Page, who portrays the game’s protagonist, Jodie Holmes. Kadeem Harrison, who appeared on NBC sitcom “A Different World,” will play a “researcher for a government agency investigating paranormal activity;” and Eric Winter, a former model who had a small role in Harold & Kumar: Escape From Guantanamo Bay, will play a yet-to-be-described character.

Halo 4

Microsoft announced the new Halo 4 Limited Edition 360. Available for pre-order now, the new console will feature Halo-inspired graphics, including a blue ‘Ring of Light’ on both the controller and console. The live-action Halo 4 series debuted. Named Halo: Forward Unto Dawn, the series acts as an origin story for the whole USNC/Covenant conflict, and will air its first episode on October 5th, 2012.

Bad Planet

Raw Entertainment, the comic studio led by actor Thomas Jane, announced a partnership with Red Fly Studios to create a video game version of Jane’s 2005 limited series comic "Bad Planet." They've turned to Kickstarter to fund the project. The comic involves a meteorite impact on Earth and some frightening aliens.


Epic released the first screenshots for its co-op sandbox survival game. In Fortnite, players will explore, forage, collaborate and build by day in their own dynamic and expanding world. At night, they’ll work together to defend their fortress from the forces of darkness.Players will be able to use scavenged materials to quickly build and renovate structures of varying materials and complexity. Fortnite is the first game using Unreal Engine 4 and is being developed for PC release in 2013.

Injustice: Gods Among Us

Warner Bros. unveiled two new cast members: Nightwing and Cyborg. The two join the current roster that consists of Batman, Superman, Harley Quinn, Solomon Grundy, Flash and Wonder Woman.

Transformers: Fall of Cybertron

Activision displayed the game's multiplayer mode and customization system, which offers a selection of a wide variety of colors and shapes to choose from heads, body parts, and vehicles, as well as the ability to select weapons and even adjust the degree of metallic sheen. Fall of Cybertron's multiplayer component features four classes: Infiltrator, Destroyer, Titan and Scientist.

Marvel Heroes

A new trailer was released for the free-to-play MMORPG. In Marvel Heroes, players quest to stop Doctor Doom, unlocking heroes as they progress. Confirmed characters include Iron Man, Black Panther, Captain America, the Human Torch, The Hulk, Deadpool, Black Widow, Scarlet Witch, Cyclops, Thor, and Wolverine.
