Comment of the Week: F–k Star Wars

This is a tough time for Star Wars, what with George’s continuing insistence upon altering the original films for new formats and all that. We all hate it, and yet so many of us will buy those new blu-rays and weep openly about it next week.

This week we learned definitively that Drew Karpyshyn isn’t the lead writer on Mass Effect 3 because a little thing called Star Wars: The Old Republic got in the way. In response to this news, reader Mozer said what many of us Mass Effect fans were all thinking in no uncertain terms:

F–k star wars, it’s an aging saga that needs to die. Mass Effect should be his first and only priority and not pushed aside like a secondary project.

We agree wholeheartedly. F–k Star Wars up the butthole. And I say that as someone who has read well over 100 Star Wars novels in my lifetime.

Mass Effect. There is a reason I never bothered to finish them, they kinda suck.

How in the hell is Star Wars supposed to be first when Lucas keeps raping the original trilogy up the ass? Is that the top priority of Star Wars? Populate the world with Jedi and CGI every thing and have Jar Jar in every ing movie?

Mass Effect is the same damn thing as Star Wars, only difference is no ing Jedi and Sith bull. Stupid ass fanboys.

To be honest, I used to give Mass Effect all the love when talking about it to others. But then I realized I had to FORCE myself to finish number 1 and have only played like an hour of part 2.

Maybe they DO kinda suck.

Mass Effect is awesome. I hope 3 turns out a great game as much as the other 2 did, with or without Drew.

Actually, when Bioware does scifi it’s awesome. Remember Knights of the Old Republic? It was epic and had one of the best stories I’d seen in a game. The Mass Effect series really just follows in the Bioware tradition of being a great scifi RPG.

@Isaac: Agreed, 150%. KotOR was/is(?) my all time favorite game, but Mass Effect *may* have taken its place. The gameplay, and even some of the other things like quests from ME really just feel like an updated KotOR – That is not a bad thing in any way, shape or form.

Mass Effect is not Star Wars without the force. It’s not even close. While the games themselves aren’t gimmicky or super attention-grabbing, they’re games which do near everything more than adequately with the exception of story. The stories are great. Also, the visuals and atmosphere of the games are appealing.

With all the god damned time they’ve put on SWTOR, they could’ve made something truly interesting and revolutionary. Instead, they made a multiplayer version of KOTOR based on the the WoW mechanics with a load of voice acting.

Star Wars.

Star Wars 1,2,3 movies ruined the franchise. It was so childish and silly. It was like a B movie plot, acting, characters but with a big budget for sci fi effects and scenes.

If the movies were simliar in tone to those new BIoware videogame video clips then I think Star Wars would still be relevant but as of now its dead. If other ppl are like me, I no longer care about it or interested in anything Star Wars.
