Company of Heroes 2 Gets Pre-Order, Collector’s Edition Goodness
Laying down your cold-hard cash for Company of Heroes 2 will net you a few nice additives, especially if you’re willing to spend half again as much as the standard retail cost.
First up, the pre-order bonuses: if you snag Company of Heroes 2 through Steam, you’ll get yourself into the Steam Pre-Purchase Tiered Reward Program. We saw the same thing come online with XCOM: Enemy Unknown last week.
Pre-ordering on Steam first guarantees you beta access when the CoH2 beta comes online on Steam. Next, you’ll unlock two new hats in Team Fortress 2, and then new items in Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War 2. The last reward tier comes with the Company of Heroes 2 Commissar Chest, which includes in-game currency, an XP boost, a unit boost and a new Commander archetype.
Pre-order through Origin unlocks a new vehicle skin for your heavy vehicles, the Soviet Bryansk. If you decide to go straight through THQ, though, you’ll get the Command Pass — which sounds like a season pass that will get you bonus multiplayer maps and access to “exclusive member’s only events.” The Command Pass will be something you can purchase after CoH2′s launch, regardless of what version you pre-order now.
There’s also the Digital Collector’s Edition of the game, which includes even more crazy extras. First, you’ll get Company of Heroes and its expansion packs, Opposing Fronts and Tales of Valor, included in the package. You’ll also snag three post-launch single-player content packs, new vehicle skins, and a veteran badge that will pop up next to your name when you play online. You’ll pay dearly for all that extra stuff though — the Digital Collector’s Edition goes for $99.
