Competitive Multiplayer Axed in Favor of Co-Op for Dead Space 3

Did you play Dead Space 2′s multiplayer? That’s ok, nobody really did. For the recently confirmed Dead Space 3, EA will be focusing instead on the cooperative gameplay elements, including an online drop-in/drop-out system akin to what we’ve seen in games like Resident Evil 5. The second player will assume the role of another engineer named John Carver. More details will undoubtedly be revealed at EA’s press conference today at E3.

Thankfully, Dead Space 3′s story can still be tackled completely alone. Appropriate, given the nature of the survival horror genre to which the franchise adheres. Something about having a sidekick to hold onto, Scooby Doo-style, sort of diminishes any jump-scares from leaping Necromorphs.
