Congratulations: Borderlands 2 Will be Uncut Worldwide
Corrected for accuracy.
Borderlands shipped incomplete in some regions; in Germany, for example, some of the more violent bits were excised due to local concerns. However, that censorship regime won’t be in play moving forward. Gearbox announced today that Borderlands 2 will be uncut in all regions.
This was achieved thanks to the inclusion of a ‘gore toggle’ that will automatically remove all the blood and guts entirely, leaving the game otherwise intact. Click a button and whammo: less violence, less mommy tears.
Borderlands 2 launches September 18, now officially the bloodiest day in world history.
Here’s the official announcement:
We’re happy to announce that Borderlands 2 will be uncut all over the world!
Some fans will remember that the first Borderlands game was a bit toned down in certain territories compared to the rest of the world. No longer! Do you live in Germany? Australia? Bandits will be just as likely to explode into bloody chunks of awesomeness as they will be in Canada or England (which is to say: very likely.)
Or, maybe you’re the type who abhors violence. You’re in luck – we’ve implemented a Gore Toggle option that allows you to remove all blood and guts from the game entirely. With a single button press, you can turn Borderlands a less violent experience!
