ContraCosta On Assignment With Rock Band

Rock Band is one of the most talked about games this week. It’s pricey, but still looks like a worthy title to pick up if you have the extra cheese to spend. ContraCosta Times recently published an article covering their hands-on experience with the title. Their idea of hands-on was playing the game on a giant screen in front of a crowd. One thing they mentioned that caught my attention is that the whammy bar sticks out a little further on the Rock Band guitars than it did on Guitar Hero. That may mean nothing to you, but I cannot count the number of times the whammy bar has gotten in my way while playing GH. A link to the article and more images of their experience follow the break.

    Whammy bar is longer? Awesome.

For me the whammy bar in GH never got in the way of strumming. I like being able to strum down with my thumb & back with my index while hanging on to the whammy with my remaining fingers. In fact, there are times where strumming and whammying at the same time are needed. In that particular case a more realistic whammy bar is what I’ve so desired. Looks like I may get my wish after all.
