Control Necromorphs in Dead Space 2 Multiplayer

Get this – firing up multiplayer in Dead Space 2 can put you in the stabbing, horrifically mutated control of necromorphs.

Electronic Arts gave up that information at the annual GameStop conference in San Antonio recently. Sounds like at least one multiplayer mode will handle somewhat like that of the recent Splinter Cell incarnations; namely, one team carrying big guns in the traditional style, the other trying to murder them.

That leads to all kinds of cool multiplayer possibilities. For one, necromorphs can reproduce virally, like zombies, leading to last-man-standing scenarios among the team made up of Isaac Clark-like soldiers. But EA also has hinted at other multiplayer modes, so the more traditional human vs. human style could be available as well.

The company also used the conference to talk about preorder bonuses for Dead Space 2. Among them is a special Rivet Gun that will be part of the preorder package at GameStop, but all preorders everywhere will include a free code to download Dead Space: Ignition, the Dead Space 2 prequel game.
