Creative Assembly Releases Beta of Rome 2 Mod Tools

It took more than a month for Creative Assembly to get Total War: Rome 2 in a playable state after its painful September launch, but even now many Total War enthusiasts say the developers missed the mark by dumbing down the tactical strategy franchise.

Well, now is the time for core fans to turn Rome 2 into something great. Creative Assembly has launched a beta version of its official mod tools, and the Rome 2 Assembly Kit is now ready for download.

“We’re looking forward to seeing what everyone will make with these tools, and the Assembly Kit will be updated over time to include other tools as well,” CA stated.

Modders didn’t wait for CA’s official tools, and you can already find a number of mods for download in the Rome 2 Steam Workshop. Divide et Impera, for example, is a complete Rome 2 overhaul that seeks to give players a true historical representation of warfare during the era.

Impressive stuff, and it should only get better now that the Assembly Kit is in the wild.

Maybe now I’ll actually play it in a month or so when we got some good stuff released.
