Creepy Atmosphere Unveiled in 'Alone in the Dark' Trailer

Alone in the Dark Gameplay Trailer

While the new Alone in the Dark trailer from Atari and Eden Studios does not give you much of an idea of what sort of horrors you will be facing when playing the game, it is very heavy on atmosphere. Dull gray and creepy, the buildings and dark landscapes are just oozing with monster lurking potential. You also get to check out the different weapons at your disposal during the game, and from what is shown during the gameplay footage, most will be blunt objects. There is also a clip within the video of a very fast moving car which I am sure will be an interesting thing to navigate. Hopefully you will be able to run-down your foes with accuracy and see them bounce off of nearby objects.

Look for Alone in the Dark to hit shelves for the PC, PS2, Xbox 360 and Wii in May and the PS3 “sometime in 2008″. You may want to take those release dates with a grain of salt though, considering how many times the dates have been changed.

Oh, so chalk Atari and Eden Studio’s up as devs who PS3 owners should ignore and boycott? Roger that.

Why should PS3 owners boycott Atari? From what I’ve read and heard from the people themselves, it’s a little bit harder to make games for the PS3. It’s not like Atari is giving up on the PS3 and not making a game for it. They’re taking a little more time to make sure the game gets the high quality it so rightfully deserves.

Back to the trailer though. It simply looks amazing! The amount of detail that’s going into this game is amazing and I know I’m going to be drawn into the atmosphere by the graphics alone. I hope the story is a memorable one as well.
