Creepy: Minecraft Finally Hits PlayStation 3 This Week

Mojang has sold more than 30 million copies of Minecraft on PC and the Xbox 360. That already impressive number should jump exponentially this week when creator Markus “Notch” Perssson brings his blocks and creeps to the PlayStation 3.

In a post on the official PlayStation Blog, Mojang announced that Minecraft will be available for download from the PlayStation Store tomorrow, December 17 in North America, December 18 in Europe. No official word on pricing, but it’s the identical version everyone else already has on PC and the Xbox 360, so expect to pay $15.

Mojang also announced that, yes, it is working on a version for those of you who have already left their PS3s behind for the PlayStation 4, but there is no word yet on when we can expect to see Minecraft on the PS4. Expect an announcement in the New Year.

While there is no doubt sales will increase “significantly,” they would only increase “exponentially” if everyone who has ever bought a PS3 were to buy 9 copies of the game.

“Identical version everyone else already has on PC and Xbox 360″. Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t the Xbox 360 version much behind the PC version? So is Xbox getting a giant update, or is that just misstated?
