CryEngine 2 Coming to 360 and PS3

crysis.jpg

There’s no denying that Crysis is an absolute beauty; nothing comes close to matching the gorgeous visuals that CryEngine 2 – the technology behind Crysis – can produce. It’s exciting to know, then, that CryEngine 2 is going to be shown at this year’s GDC running on multiple platforms, including the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

There won’t be a public showing of this, but it’s exciting news nevertheless. While it likely isn’t going to be a straight port of the engine – it is, after all, built to last well into the future on hardware that you can’t find now – it would be great to see how hard it could push the power of the 360 and PS3.

Maybe a console version of Crysis isn’t so far fetched after all.

Well, they already said there won’t be a console version of Crysis…. though, I could see Far Cry 2 being brought to consoles.

This almost confirms that Crysis is coming to the consoles. Crysis did not sell nearly as well as they had hoped for so I think they may make up for it with a counsel release. Will it look as good probably not but hey i am pretty sure if they tweak the engine enough the ps3 should be able to come pretty close to a high end PC.

They have always said that they will port cryengine2 to the consoles. They have also always said that crysis is not the game that is coming for consoles. It’s something else.

I can imagine a 360 or a ps3 nearly exploding after a couple of minutes of crysis..
