Crysis 3 Mutliplayer Beta Starts Jan. 29, And Here’s a Trailer
You read it, folks: The multiplayer beta for Crysis 3 is on its way at the end of the month, so you’ll want to be get your download finger ready in about six days.
The good news: It’s an open beta and it’ll be available on all three platforms this month. According to Electronic Arts, the beta will include two different game modes of the eight that’ll be available when the game hits retail release on Feb. 19. Those modes are Crash Site, which has players defending static locations and earning points for how much time they can keep those locations secured, and Hunter.
Hunter mode sounds like it could be fairly interesting. This is the asymmetrical mode that puts up to two players in the role of a Nanosuit-wearing ass-kicker, with the rest of the players becoming CELL troops. The mode is based on time, with the Nanosuit players working to take down 10 opponents on console, or as many as 14 on PC. But the catch is, you only get to use the Predator bow with your Nanosuit. Oh, and as each CELL trooper dies, he or she respawns on the Nanosuit team to join the hunt.
The beta also includes two multiplayer maps, of the 12 that will ship with the game: Museum and Airport, so expect a mix of interiors and exterior, jungle-covered areas in which to fight.
You’ll be able to find and download the open beta on Origin, Xbox Live and Playstation 3. EA and Crytek also have released a new trailer for you to enjoy, which we have embedded below. Sorry, it has nothing to do with multiplayer, but it does show off the Nanosuit and imply some story.
