Crysis Monthly – No 1.3 Patch, Linux Server

monthly_update.jpg

The Latest Crysis Monthly publication from Crytek bears bad news for gamers. The post confirms that due to piracy, Crytek will no longer be developing PC exclusive games. It also says that all is not well in its efforts to produce a stable Crysis Linux Dedicated Server.

We are sorry to say that the current development progress is not satisfying enough, as we have a hard time getting the code to a state where it is stable and playable.

Thus we made the decision to put the development on hold for now. We are definitely not happy with the current quality and stability of the server and we are far away from having a stable version which could be sent out to the community for alpha/beta testing.

The final blow to gamers is the announcement that there will be no patch 1.3 for any version of Crysis. Crytek offers players its apologies and promises to tell us their very good reasons why it’s decided not to release a 1.3 patch. Hopefully, it’s something along the line of the company is preparing a 2.0 build, but that’s highly optimistic.

It seems that 9 months is not enough to create stable linux server. You’re weak.

That really sucks. I’m not one to care about online play. I was just wanting the BSODs to stop. My computer is more than capable of running it on highest settings. I tested it myself. 30 to 60 minutes in though, my computer freaks out. I think I may be running it too hot, but at the same time, another high end game I have (The Last Remnant) quits not even 10 minutes in and only when it is on full screen at any resolution and texture setting available. It’s quite odd. Plays perfect windows. So about Crysis, I wish I could get the damn thing to work properly. Maybe I’ll make my own patch. It’s not that hard if you know how to do it. Oh well….

V, this is fairly old news.. have you patched to the latest version? I know Crysis has gotten more support since a year ago. There are a number of tweak sites out there and some unofficial patches that might help.
