Crytek: “Crysis 3 on Wii U Had to Die”

Crytek CEO and president Cevat Yerli has revealed that the Wii U version of Crysis 3 was cancelled due to a lack of support from Nintendo and publisher EA.

Speaking with GamesBeat, Yerli said:

“We did have Crysis 3 running on the Wii U. We were very close to launching it. But there was a lack of business support between Nintendo and EA on that. Since we as a company couldn’t launch on the Wii U ourselves – we don’t have a publishing license – Crysis 3 on Wii U had to die.”

Would you have picked up Crysis 3 on the Wii U anyhow? Game Front’s Ben Richardson reviewed the PC version of the game, offering it a modest score aided principally by the game’s visuals, which would undoubtedly be far inferior on the Wii U.

Crytek spent all the time and money to have a working crysis on wii u but didnt launch it cause of no publishing license. That sounds more lack to me instead of “lack of business support between Nintendo and EA” .

That’s quite the different story than his first one, which was something about how the WiiU was too weak to run Crysis3.

Or am I confusing him with the Unreal people.

Did he mean inferior to the PC version or to the other consoles? It undoubtedly would have been inferior to the PC version, but it may have been a little better than the other console versions as the Wii U is a little more powerful than a PS3 or XBOX.
