Crytek Tackles Four-Player Co-op in HUNT: Horrors of the Gilded Age
Hot on the heels of yesterday’s reveal of the next Homefront game, Crytek has announced a brand-new IP titled HUNT: Horrors of the Gilded Age.
HUNT: Horrors of the Gilded Age is a third-person action game that is centered around four-player co-op. It’s also the first title from Crytek USA, the studio that was formed around a core of veterans from Vigil Games after the collapse of THQ.
According to the press release, players will team up to “fend off an onslaught of bloodthirsty creatures and track down breathtaking bosses.” Apparently, in the game’s world, myth and folklore are more than just fairy tales – they’re the stories that point out the true evil lurking behind to facade of ‘normal’ life. The reveal trailer shows off some undead rising from the grave to confront the quartet of hunters. Crytek USA CEO David Adams describes the game in the press release, saying,
“In HUNT: Horrors of the Gilded Age, players will be counting their bullets and crying out for help as they delve deeper into the shadowy world we’ve created. From the outset of the development process, we’ve poured our imaginations into the game so that everyone who plays HUNT will discover a challenging experience that feels fresh, captivating and rich in possibilities.”
HUNT will also feature a new content generation system that claims to ensure that, “players never encounter exactly the same environment or set of enemies twice.” While that may be a bit of a stretch, a system that improves on the ‘AI Director’ that the Left 4 Dead games utilized would be a welcome addition indeed.
You can see more about HUNT in the trailer above, and you can register for a shot to participate in the closed beta over on the game’s official site.
