Tower Key & Scorching Scepter Locations

To access every part of Brume Tower, the main area of the Old Iron King DLC for Dark Souls 2, you’ll need two keys; the Scorching Iron Scepter and the Tower Key.

If you’re looking for help trying to get into Brume Tower itself, learn more about the Heavy Iron Key on our Dark Souls 2: How to Access the Old Iron King DLC Guide.

Scorching Iron Scepter Location

The Scorching Iron Scepter is a special key used to start the contraption near the Foyer Bonfire. Placing the scepter in position activates the many lifts and elevators across the tower, giving you access to new areas and creating shortcuts.

To find the Scorching Iron Scepter, travel through the hallway to the right of the Foyer Bonfire and follow the path to a ladder leading into a room with two iron gates shut. Navigate this treacherous chamber, lifting the gates and dodging the bull head statues combined with spike walls, to finally reach the exit door guarded by a headless brute.

Open the door with the switch and you’ll be able to reach the Scorcher Tower. Use the giant chain to enter the side-tower guarded by leg-less crawling bodies.

Take the ladder down beyond the first hallway, where you’ll be invaded by Quicksword Rachel if you haven’t explored the area yet.

Open all the doors and leave through the passage leading to another ladder. Climb down and continue forward to find a large double door.

Inside is a room with several Scorcher enemies. They won’t attack yet. The Scorching Iron Scepter is located on the machinery in the back-center. After taking the scepter, the creatures will attack.

Tower Key Location

The tower key opens every locked gate or door in Brume Tower. You’ll need it to reach the Old Iron King memory and complete the Soul of Nadalia.

To get the tower key, you’ll need to activate the Scepter contraption near the Foyer Bonfire so that lifts and elevators are working.

Ride the lift to the left of the Scepter slot. Go down and take the first right to find a large open doorway leading out onto a cliff covered in ash. Multiple giant brute creatures appear from the ash inside, so be careful when exploring.

The key itself is on a body hanging off the cliff, in the far right corner.
