How to Access the New DLC Content

  • Get the Lordvessel by defeating Ornstein and Smough in Anor Londo. Take the Lordvessel to Frampt or Kaathe. They will open the Fog Doors, allowing you to reach the Duke’s Archives.
  • Travel to the Darkroot Basin through the Undead Chapel. Reach the water basin, and defeat the Hydra before you continue.
  • After the Hydra is defeated, enter the large cave accessed by walking through the water. A tough Golem will only spawn when the Hydra has been defeated on your current playthrough. Defeat the Golem to make Oolacile appear. Talk with the NPC to rescue her.
  • Return to a Bonfire, and travel to the Duke’s Archives accessed through a path in Anor Londo. Inside the Archives, take the lift up. Ahead, and to the right of the door, is a Crystal Golem.
  • Defeat the Crystal Golem, and it will drop a Broken Pendant. Return to the cave where you rescued Oolacile.
  • Deep inside the cave, there is a swirling black portal. Examine it, and use the Broken Pendant to access the new DLC content.

you must rescue lake golem BEFORE killing the crystal golem for the pendant. Cheers! :)

To elaborate, to complete, do steps 1, 3, 4, 2, 5. You may have to reload the game if the lake golem does not spawn.

This guide caused me some heartache, I thought I had done got ed up when I killed the one at duke’s first and didn’t get any drop. You have to kill the one at the hydra first it seems.

Luckily the golem at duke’s respawns so that I didn’t have to wait until NG+ to access the DLC content.

The Lordvessel you acquire is needed to open the fogged doors to four areas that hold 4 bosses, which give you souls to put into the Lordvessel to complete your game. If you do not have the Lordvessel, you cannot get to the dlc. One of the areas is called Duke’s Archives (where you face Seath the Scaleless).

To get to the dlc, you must kill the hydra in Darkroot Basin (area beside the tower that Havel resides in).
Once the hydra is dead, keep to your left (towards the waterfall) and you’ll eventually enter a cave where a crystal golem is. If he is not there, save and quit and re-enter your game. The golem will be at the end of the cave. Kill the golem and you will meet Oolicile (answer yes to her question).

You then must make your way to Duke’s Archives. Go to Anor Londo (preferably warping). When at the bonfire, make your way up the stairs and turn left. There will be a room with two giants and a third giant guarding stairs. Get through the giant guarding the stairs and make your way up. Following continued path will lead you to Duke’s Archives (if you have not been here yet, there will be two heavily armored boars that guard the entrance to Duke’s Archives). Once in Duke’s Archives, you will hit your first bonfire and an elevator.
*NOTE* If you have not been to Duke’s Archives before, the elevator you use will prolong your wait to use the dlc content.
Use the elevator and you will need to fight your way to the golem (you will see the golem to your right while standing on the elevator you just used). Once the area is clear and safe for you to get to the golem, kill him and you acquire the Broken Pendant (needed to gain access to the dlc).

Once you gain the pendant, make your way back Darkroot Basin and to the cave (where you fought the hydra and crystal golem that held Oolacile). Now in this cave, you will see a portal. Walk up to the portal and examine it.

Now you’re in the dlc. You may explore and die.

This guide is ing awful.

First, kill the Anor Londo boss and obtain the Lordvessel.
Second, kill the Hydra (or kill prior, inconsequential).
Then, kill the golden Golem, who only appears if you’re in human form (after the Hydra is dead).
Talk to her, summon Oolacile near the golems of the area, talk to her.
Kill the first golem in the Duke’s Archives, obtain the Pendant.
Go back to the golden Golem.

That wasn’t hard, was it?

@no,

Sorry that you didn’t find this guide helpful. But, it seems everything that you’ve stated is in the guide above.

But, one correction, there’s no need to summon Oolacile near golems. Rescuing her is enough to make the Crystal Golem in the Archives drop a Pendant. The Golden Golem will not respawn when you return to the cave in the Darkroot Basin — instead, he’ll be replaced with a portal. The Broken Pendant needs to be used on the portal to enter the new DLC content.

Thanks for the feedback!

@gamer,

Hmm, I’ve confirmed that the method above works, so I’m not exactly sure what the issue could be. The DLC might need to initialize with a reset — are you playing on the PS3, 360, or PC? I’ve read that some owners are having trouble making sure the DLC has activated.

You might also want to try resting at a bonfire, leaving the area and returning, or resetting the console. There have been some reported bugs, and the method is so cryptic, it can be hard to tell if every step has properly registered.
