Darkest Dungeon Hits Kickstarter Goal in Under 24 Hours

Darkest Dungeon, the unique RPG roguelike in development at start-up Red Hook Studios, will be made.

Less than 24 hours after hitting Kickstarter, Darkest Dungeon surged past its $75,000 funding goal. With 29 days remaining on the campaign, stretch goals are now being targeted, and more than 2,000 backers have contributed more than $120,000.

As you can see in the new trailer below, Darkest Dungeon doesn’t just look unique with its hand-drawn art style, it features an “affliction system” where characters will not only have to combat monsters, but manage their own fears and paranoia. Imagine the basic panicked soldier mechanic in XCOM: Enemy Unknown, only taken to another level.

If all goes according to plan Red Hook says it will get Darkest Dungeon in our hands around January of 2015. If the funding continues to pour in and the many stretch goals are reached, think of that January estimate as optimistic:
