Darksiders 2 Preorder Incentives Announced

Well in advance of the June 26 release of Darksiders II, THQ has unveiled the goodies players who preorder the action adventure game will receive. Yes, as expected it’s some DLC that will also be made available to players who didn’t preorder at a later date. The only catch is the better the incentives, the more hassle you’ll have to endure in your shopping experience.

People who lazily opt for the convenience of Amazon will get the “Deadly Despair” pack. This DLC pack gives a permanent speed boost to Death’s horse Despair, greatly shortening the time it takes to travel across the world of Darksiders 2. Of course, if you’re able to handle the helpful, knowledgable assistance you’ll find at Best Buy, you’ll get the “Angel of Death” DLC packet. This pack comes with an enhanced set of armor, a “exclusive visual trail” for Dust, your companion crow, and matching scythes.

The best preorder perks are reserved for those of you able to withstand the mercury-quick service Gamestop is famous for. They’ll receive the “Death Rides” pack. This DLC adds several exclusive side-quests, expanding Maker’s Realm and Dead Plains, with a bonus to earned experience and loot for a total of 2 full hours of content. This will be slightly longer than the time it will take to actually process your preorder at a Gamestop location, making it a slightly great deal.

Darksiders 2 will be available for PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. And because we love you, here’s the full press release:

AGOURA HILLS, Calif. Feb 14, 2012 – THQ Inc. (NASDAQ: THQI) today announced a range of pre-order bonuses for its upcoming action-adventure title Darksiders® II, which is scheduled to come to the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Windows PC on June 26, 2012.

Players who pre-order the game from GAMESTOP will receive the ‘Death Rides’ pack. Featuring multiple exclusive side-quests, this pack allows the most fearless adventurers to explore more of the Maker’s Realm and Dead Plains and earn additional experience and loot. Aid an ancient Construct, battle The Bloodless and retrieve Karn’s lost treasure in around two hours of unique game play content.

Pre-order the game from BEST BUY to unlock the ‘Angel of Death’ pack. Give yourself an edge with a unique set of enhanced armor with an angel inspired design as well as a pair of upgraded matching scythes and a exclusive visual trail for your companion crow Dust.

People who pre-order the game from AMAZON will get to ride into battle with increased speed thanks to the ‘Deadly Despair’ pack. This unique pre-order offer adds an additional speed boost for Death’s trusty steed Despair, allowing players to travel across the vast world even faster than before. This perk is a permanent increase that will last throughout the game.

Jim Huntley, Vice President of Global Brand Marketing commented: “We are happy to be able to offer a range of exciting offers to reward gamers for pre-ordering copies of the game prior to its June 26th release.”

Darksiders II follows the exploits of DEATH, one of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse, in a weaving tale that runs parallel to the events in the original Darksiders game. This epic journey propels DEATH through various light and dark realms as he tries to redeem his brother WAR, the horseman who was blamed for prematurely starting the Apocalypse in Darksiders.

Darksiders II is scheduled to be available for console and PC on June 26, 2012, for more information check www.Darksiders.com .

So, let me get this straight:

Amazon- Speed Boost on horse
Best Buy- Better armor and a trail to objectives
Gamestop- More content

The Amazon one actually sounds like DLC (the laziest DLC ever but still) but the other two obviously look like cut from the game. For the record, I’ve never seen a console game that advertised missions as a preorder bonus that wasn’t just scissored out of the original product. this generation. everything.
