David O. Russell Off Uncharted Movie
Though I feel like Uncharted and David O. Russell, director of I Heart Huckabees and Three Kings, was a match made in my very neurotic heaven, it looks like, the LA Times says, Russell and Sony couldn’t come to terms, and so he’s out. This means it’s going to take a while longer to get this thing going, but since they do have a script it probably won’t take that much longer.
So who do we want on this? My vote is for Edgar Wright, but he’s got other things in the pipeline and probably wouldn’t be able to fit it in. My next vote would be for David Fincher, just because he’s David Fincher and does everything well. But he’s in pre-production on the remake for The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, so that’s probably out too.
So I’m gonna say they should go big and go after Michael Bay. And if they can’t get him, they should grab Gore Verbinski, because he’d certainly be able to fit it in, and his work as an action director on the Pirates movies is quite sound, and it’s not like he wrote the poorly plotted sequels.
There you go, Sony. Get Gore Verbinski.
