DayZ Sells 2 Million in Six Months

DayZ has sold more than 2 million units since its standalone release.

This new sales reveal came via game designer and DayZ creator Dean Hall who posted about the new sales figures on his personal Twitter account.

“Just over 2 years ago the DayZ mod released,” said Hall. “Today, the Standalone game just broke 2 million units in under 6 months.”

Originally released as a mod for Bohemia Interactive’s Arma 2, the alpha version of the DayZ standalone edition was released to Steam Early Access in December 2013. While the early version contained a slew of bugs and imperfections, it sold well and raked in more than $5 million in sales in its first 24 hours of availability. A month later it was revealed that the game had topped a million units sold. This newest sales achievement took a tad longer to come around but it’s still an arguably impressive achievement for a game that technically isn’t even finished yet.
