DayZ Standalone to Feature Instanced Underground Bases, Bigger Chernarus

RPS caught up with Dean Hall and Marek Spanel at Gamescom and learned some interesting tidbits about the future of DayZ.

The standalone game, which Hall anticipates arriving before the end of the year, could eventually have “instanced” building: player-driven construction in the game consisting of underground bases that would be instanced from “portals,” represented by grates in the ground, across the game world of Chernarus.

Further, Chernarus is being redone for the release with more buildings that can be entered, more detail, and even entirely new areas. New maps are a major part of the plan for the standalone in the future.
