Dead Island is Getting a Game of the Year Edition for Some Reason

It’s well-documented on Game Front that I’m not much of a fan of Dead Island, so it’s interesting to me that the title — which really was not that great — is going to receive a Game of the Year edition later this year. Apparently the definition of “of the Year” is a touch lax.

Anyway, if you are interested in a new version of Dead Island, you’re in luck, because this one will include three bits of extra content that weren’t previously packaged with the game. They’re not much: you get the Bloodbath Arena DLC and the Rider White DLC that recasts the story from the perspective of that character, and you also get a new weapon called The Ripper.

Dead Island GOTY drops in just a month — June 23 — for $29.99. Regular Dead Island is on sale on Steam today for about $12, which you might want to keep in mind. With the DLC, the price hops up to about $20.

Hey, you’re right, opinions are things. Although objective analysis of a work to determine its quality and make recommendations to consumers IS possible, and in fact, is my job! Crazy how it’s possible to not like something BECAUSE it’s not good.

Techland, you silly bastards!… congrats for making the game afterall.. but ‘controversial trailer of the year’ doesn’t mean ‘game of the year’.
