Dead Rising 2: Case Zero Infects 360 in August

The hype build-up for Dead Rising 2 is incredible and I’m not sure the game can actually live up to expectations but the first tie-in game – Dead Rising 2: Case Zero will see release for 400 MS points August 31st.

Set as a prequel game to the upcoming retail release, Case Zero is meant to fill in back story surrounding the world after Frank West’s encounter in the original game. Case Zero introduces Chuck Greene and his infected daughter Katey – as Chuck struggles to escape a deserted town full of infected. The 360 downloadable game is an experiment on Capcom’s part meant to treat fans of the first game with a peek at the new game systems (like weapon building) while offering a good entry point for newcomers in advance of Dead Rising 2′s Fall release.

Players who finish Case Zero can carry over experience into the retail game and earn bonus loot like outfits. Currently the game will be 360 exclusive so PS3 fans are out of luck.
