Dead Rising 2 Getting Unedited Australian Release

Dead-Rising-2-Screen

The saga of Australian gamers and their struggle to get their hands on M-rated titles is familiar to almost anyone on the internet these days. The most egregious example was Left 4 Dead 2, which was initially banned until a toned-down version was submitted that was basically blood and gore free.

Recently, Capcom’s upcoming zombie title, Dead Rising 2 (which we played at E3 this year) , was submitted for classification as well, and the Australian gaming community held its collective breath.

Well, our brethren down under can rest easy. Dead Rising 2 has received a MA15+ rating, the highest available in Australia, and comes with a warning that it contains, “strong horror violence, blood and gore and sexual references.” THQ has also released a statement saying that the game has not been edited in any way for its Australian release.

I don’t know if this means that Dead Rising 2 is slightly less realistic than L4D2, or if whatever bug has been up the ass of the Australian Classification Board finally died up there, but either way, enjoy your Dead Rising 2, Aussies!
