Dead State First Footage Surfaces

Following DoubleBear’s Kickstarter fund for Dead State, the studio has been quietly working on the alpha for the game. The studio has dropped radio silence to reveal a combat demo of Dead State, which showcases the game’s turn-based combat and scavenging mechanics.

The release of the video marks the first gameplay footage we’ve seen of the game, and depicts its protagonist and an AI-controlled character scrounging for resources in a zombie-infested town.

Players should note that it is possible, and even recommended that they avoid zombies whenever possible and draw little attention to themselves while going out on scavenging runs, as they are only rewarded for completing their missions and not for killing individual zombies.

The video shows how the player character can attack zombies, pick locks, smash down doors, and otherwise survive in the post-apocalyptic wasteland.

Dead State has a release date of December 2013, so expect the game to improve leading up to its release.

A game where I actually wouldn’t mind some multi-player. Or at least co-op.
