Why I Love VR Gaming: The Death Star Trench Run Oculus Rift Demo

I think I can retire from video games, pop culture, and the Internet after I play this fantastic new Oculus Rift demo.

What warm-blooded American hasn’t dreamed about taking down the Death Star in anĀ Incom T-65 X-wing starfighter? Sure, there are some weirdo Y-Wing enthusiasts out there, but most of us want to lock S-foils in attack position, and lament the passing of our wingman, Jek Porkins.

From the detail in the trench itself, to the head-tracking-controlled reticle, to turning your head, only to see R2-D2 derp-chirping away behind the cockpit…it’s almost too much for me to bear. I haven’t been this excited about a game/demo since the EVR/Valkyrie demo at E3.

I have yet to try this Trench Run demo, but I do own an Oculus Rift developer kit, so it’s only a matter of time. I’ve also reached out to the YouTube channel owner, so additional details should pop up in the near future. Oh, and I’ll make sure to bring Mr. Sharkey along for the ride, too, so long as I’m Han and he’s Chewie.
