Deep Silver Puts Down Dead Island 2 Rumors

Recently, rumors have begun to surface that zombie vacation simulator Dead Island would be getting a sequel. Game publisher Deep Silver has, however, denied any such gossip and has stated that there is no Dead Island 2 currently in production. Certainly a tragic bit of news for people who love battering the undead in the face with an oar.

“We are neither working with Yager on Dead Island 2 nor do we have any contractual agreement with Yager about any project at this point,” said development director Guido Eickmeyer. ”Yager and Deep Silver do have a very close relationship, based on personal and professional connections between the parties … However, we have neither something in place or in discussion between the parties that would explain such a news, nor do we have Dead Island 2 in concept or production with external partners.”

Dead Island was a pretty good game. Deeply, truly, flawed, but nevertheless enjoyable. I’d love to see a second game at some point, though I wonder how well it did. There was certainly a lot of hype following that classic trailer, but opinions definitely took a turn once the thing was finally on store shelves. It certainly wasn’t the most polished experience, but it still remains a pretty entertaining round of stupid zombie-smashing.
