Dell and HP Still Rule Computer Market, Apple Climbing

apple_ii_large.jpgIt’s interesting to see which computer companies are thriving in this age of the disposable PC.

While I assume many of the PC gamers out there are the type to buy and for build themselves there are a large number of folks who just look at Best Buy’s weekly circular and pick the shiniest PC. Well this week IDC released their state of the industry report showing that the PC market is actually growing in the unstable economy.

While HP holds the lead followed fairly closely by Dell, one of the most surprising trends is that Apple grew 15.4% to take over the 4th position behind Acer. Its taken a few years but the growth of Apple might actually make it a viable alternative as we enter the critical back-to-school buying period and may lead to more games being delivered to the platform itself. You can see the full report over on the IDC website.
