Deus Ex: Human Revolution Infinite Experience Glitch

No game can avoid the ever-looming menace of the glitch, not until a patch comes a long to ruin all our fun. Augmentations are the name of the game, and unlocking the precious powers by gaining experience can take some serious time. Game the system instead of playing the “right” way, and you can quickly unlock a few Praxis points early. We warn all those that want to give this glitch a try — the experience may be infinite, but it still takes some time and effort.

For your Hanzers looking for some of the regular help, the cyberpunk super-agents of Game Front are here with a full walkthrough. For even more coverage, check out our cheats page.

Infinite Experience Glitch

  1. This glitch will work anywhere, but the first (And easiest) place to start would be Adam Jensen’s personal computer, located in his office at Sarif HQ, after returning from the Sarif Manufacturing Plant hostage situation.
  2. Use the discovered Praxis Kit and an earned Praxis point to upgrade to Hacking security level 3. Try to collect as many Nuke Programs as possible to help speed up the process, the Nuke Programs can be collected in the Sarif Manufacturing Plant, or while searching and hacking into the computers around Sarif HQ.
  3. Before starting a hack, save your game. Hack every optional node, or the Network node to instantly complete the hack.
  4. Do not exit out of the hack or press a button to complete it, you’ll want to make sure you’re getting an +XP bonus. While using Adam Jensen’s computer, hacking the special reward nodes will net you a +500 XP bonus.
  5. The best method: While using Adam Jensen’s computer, only hack the four nodes straight to the security node (The red tower icon), ignoring the rest. Capture the security node, using five Nuke Viruses, you should be able to capture it, then load your game before completing the hack.
  6. When you’ve acquired the optional nodes, or captured the network node — pause the game and load the save made before you hacked. Again, do not complete the hack, when the game brings up the “Access Granted” window, do not select “OK”.
  7. Press start, you’ll notice you can’t save, load the save you made before starting the hack. Now that you’re back in time, try the hack again.
  8. Follow the same steps, capture every optional node or the network node, and you’ll see that the game has kept your previous +500 XP bonus.
  9. For your second try, you’ll have +1000 XP, for the third try, you’ll have +1500 XP, etc. Do the trick five times for a sweet +2500 XP, just remember to keep loading and never select “OK” to complete the hack.
  10. Do this trick as many times as you want for a large XP bonus early in the game.
  11. Don’t forget that you can always return to Adam Jensen’s computer later, or try this trick on other hacking challenges around the game.
  12. While hacking systems with Nuke Virus or Slow Worm rewards, you can also infinitely gather these rewards.
  13. You may have to hack the same way each time to stack your rewards – make each subsequent hack a copy of your first hack, just to be safe. (Tip provided by: Captain Obvious)

A small addendum: When you do this on systems that have Nuke Viruses, Slow Worms, or credit drops, you are able to collect them over and over as well.

I tried this trick out on the first camera/turret system hack and ended up with 30+ Nuke Viruses by the time I gained a level.

One other thing is that it seems like you might have to hack the system the same way each time. I noticed if I fortified an extra node that I didn’t fortify the time before, the successful hack only showed +100Xp +Nuke Virus. When I re-loaded and hacked it the “usual” way, the counter went back to the +2200xp I was up to at that point. It may still have counted towards the total.

PC players may have to alt-tab out of the game to bring up the pause menu.

OMG this is like the holy fracking grail of hacking. I’m ripping my ethernet cable out so they can’t update this and stop it. brb after I have 999,999 xp points. See you in a few years.

On September 2, 2011 at 1:07 am

Yeah, if you hit ESC on the PC version it automatically accepts the hack.

How do you access the pause menu by using ALT-TAB ?

Luther

On September 2, 2011 at 8:38 pm

@Gaz I don’t think you pause it, when I tried this on pc it was a matter of being ready to do your first hack, do a quick save (F5) then do the hack, once you are done hacking dont click anything just hit (F8)or (F9) [cant remember which one] for quick load and repeat the hack, at the end when you are done finally accept the last hack you do and all that exp from the first hack is given to you.

I never got this to multiply tho like this guide explains only a constant 250/250/250/250
not 250/500/1000/2000

JosephPS3

On September 2, 2011 at 10:01 pm

@ Luther,

I have the PS3 version. I never got the multiplier effect either. I think you misread it. I thought the same thing. They use 500XP/hack as an example. ” Do the trick five times for a sweet +2500 XP”. So you basically get 500XP every time you do this. So its not really worth it really.

It is an easy way to get some extra XP quick in the beginning of the game and some hacks have few bonuses. YOu can use this to accumulate those hack nukes.

I wish they had a new game+

Alt-Tab then when you remaximize the game it will be at the start menu allowing you to select load game.
Also for max speed go straight for the red control node. I had 5 nukes and nuked to it repeatedly for speed. Hacking that node gets you all the extras.

I have tried this many different times running the same route every time but all I am getting is 500exp every time any thoughts?

JosephPS3

On September 3, 2011 at 3:05 pm

@ Daniel.

I have the PS3 version.

Everytime you hack and don’t accept. You’ll see only 500XP. Its only when you’re finally happy and finally accept you’ll see all the accumulated EXP. Same for any Nukes or bonuses etc.

Faaaantastic, spent an hour building it up to 40k xp all for me to be an idiot and accidently hit disconnect due to my brain melting and then it reset back to 500 xp

Hour of my life i’ll never get back :(

oh man that sux. I feel bad for you but I have to confess I laughed pretty hard when I read your post. I feel sorry but its pretty damn funny. I’m picturing you with your mouth open, your control floating in your hands feeling numb, and then you silently mouth the words “motherfracker sonofa” And you sit there stunned, shocked, horrified for a few minutes and quietly get up and walk off into the sunset.

I dont checked if someone already post it, but its worth to mention that when you take the Registry node instead of the DS node the rewards do not seem to stack but they do, in the end they all to you

Does anyone know any other good hacks that net you high xp bonuses besides Jensen’s computer?

Agent

On September 9, 2011 at 3:53 pm

PC users.. you do NOT have to pause the game to reload. Just hit F8 (quickload).

Save the game before you start (F5 – quicksave)
Hack
When “Access Granted” apprears… just hit F8
This brings up the “Are you sure you want to do this? Game progress will be lost” [Accept/Cancel]
Press Accept. Game reloads.
Hack and repeat.

NOTICE TO ALL.

When you click on the computer screen… you get “HACK/Cancel” option,

DO NOT PRESS CANCEL. This will “clear” out everything in memeory you’ve done up to that point.

I was up to 40k xp and accidently clicked Cancel instead of “Hack”. Reloading the game did nothing. I had to start back at 500xp.

ONE LAST THING. This hack only works where you can can successfully hack the security node. Hacking your way all the way to the green ball will not work.

I am playing the game on the XBOX 360 and this little glitch works fine. I would suggest at the beginning using Jensen’s computer as the Author has stated, since it’s the easiest at the beginning to get some extra XP and those valuable Praxis points.

I have found a really easy one to use a little later, right after shutting down the tower for Sarif in the Derelic Row area. You are taken to the Mercenary Compound, M10 – Following the Clues in Highland Park, Infiltrate the Mercenary Compound.

Well, before you go in the building, take out all of the (6) guards in the courtyard to make moving about freely, easier. Once you do that, do the following:

On the compound, looking at the building you’re going to go in to, the the very far left corner (opposite from where you started) behind two large, red crates is a secured fence. Hack this fence entrance, easily getting to the security node and also raking in a Nuke Virus and a Stop!Worm each time. This is the easiest one I have found so far. This can be directly hacked with no need for Nukes or Stops for help. It’s a Level 3 Hack.

Enjoy!

BTW, the one thing I forgot to mention is that the hack I was talking about in my previous post does not give you XP points, only Nukes and Stop! Worms. Just to be clear. It helps to have extras to make hacking other terminals in the game much easier as things get a little difficult.

cP

On September 15, 2011 at 7:28 pm

So, referring to my original post, I have discovered a new secret, unless i am just slow and everyone already knows this. Here it is:

Let’s say you were hacking the terminal I mentioned previously and had only 3 Nukes at your disposal to use. You can use those Nukes each time you hack and so on, but when you decide you are finished, do not use the Nukes to do the hack if possible.

If you have a high enough hack stealth rating, you can hack all the way to the security Terminal on the last try and you get to keep all three Nukes you previously used, along with the rest you gathered, in my case 20. So, I ended up with 23. Piece of cake.

Just thought I’d throw that out there since on the first hack in Jensen’s office you lose the 5 nukes that you use for the hacks.

I’m sorry maybe I’m not getting it, but I’m doing the glitch right, going up by 500 xp every time, and I’m at 3000xp but how exactly do you keep all the XP and still be able to come back to Adam Jensens computer at a later time? When you load the game you don’t get the xp and its added glitched xp right away, unless you finish the hack again. When you have a desired amount of XP (lets say at 5000xp), and want to then stop hacking, but want to come back at a later time if need be, how do you do that? I guess that’s what I’m asking… Haha

After going to China, the computer becomes locked again. You can try again after that.

Does this cheat work on PC?

Ansuz

Glitch doesn’t work for me. Apparently it was fixed in a patch.

Wait, nevermind. Wasn’t nuking the subroutine. Glitch still works for xbox.

ME

Works on PC without problems. However, you need a special set-up where you have to hack the network node (like Adams PC).

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this one yet but in The Hive there is a door in the back at the top of some stairs with a level 5 hack. It only takes up about 4 or 5 Nukes if that’s how you choose to do it and you get 1250 XP each time so only 4 attempts per praxis. Currently on 70,000 XP myself and still going!

someone

On October 24, 2011 at 7:33 pm

@ Liam, Thats actually credits you’re getting. I’ve tried that hack to and was disappointed to find it only gives credits.

me

On October 25, 2011 at 6:39 am

@someone, can’t you just buy praxis kits every 5k credits? I’ve only played partway through so far so i’ve only bought one so if you can’t buy a bunch then i’ll just wait til i get back from hengsha because i wasn’t thinking the first time i did the trick on jensen’s comp and accidentally hit ok after only about 40k exp.

me

On October 25, 2011 at 9:46 am

you can buy praxis kits every 5k credits.

Glitch confirmed still working for PC. Use F8 [quickload] for best results, but you can also alt-tab to obtain the ESC-menu if that’s your preference. [ESC key finishes the hack, which stops the chain]

Does anyone know how many xp points I need to get all the augs to max? I was looking a pic where a guy got all the augs to max and his xp was around 200.000, but maybe that was near the end of the game and considering the praxis kits he obtained in LIMP clinics or hidden areas. Any idea of how many xp points are needed for this?

Omar

On January 22, 2012 at 11:44 am

I’m at Picus just about to deal with the second boss. I’m applying this technique in one of the computers there but i only get credits instead of XP points. Does anyone know why this is happening?

MoltenCPU

On February 5, 2012 at 5:43 pm

@ Omar: It solely depends on what is inside the Datastore(s) (the cube-shaped nodes) you’ve hacked. If they contain credits instead of XP, you’ll get credits and no bonus XP. But you still get the “regular” XP for successfully hacking the computer/panel/whatever. So if you want to get lots of XP quickly, to this glitch when at least one Datastore has a nice XP bonus in it, or if there are two with medicore XP bonuses.

if you’re on pc hit f5 to quick save b4 you start to hack the pc or terminal, when the hack is done and the reward shows, hit f8 to quick load. works every time.

Deg

On September 13, 2012 at 5:41 pm

If you save right before Jensen’s computer, you can do this any time during the game. Load up the save at Jensen’s computer, run the glitch till you want to stop – don’t select OK then load your current save file and complete a hack. All the XP you earned will be added to this hack. You could use the same concept with a terminal to get nuke viruses when you need them.

Its like you learn my mind! You appear to understand so much approximately this, like you wrote the e book in it or something. I think that you can do with some percent to pressure the message house a little bit, but other than that, this is fantastic blog. A fantastic read. I will certainly be back.

Actually only one nuke virus and one stop worm virus are more than enough to hack your way to the Security node on Jensen’s computer.
You can find them both of them very easily in a drawer in Pritchard’s office.
