Deus Ex: The Fall Coming to Steam in March

Meanwhile, on mobile devices… Deus Ex fans have been touch controlling Ben Saxon since last summer. PC gamers will get to see how the augmented agent performs on mouse and keyboard when Deus Ex: The Fall hits Steam next month.

With a post on the Square Enix Blog the publisher announced that the PC version of Deus Ex: The Fall will be released on March 25 for $10. Full keyboard and mouse controls have been added, along with full Steam integration and the following bells and whistles:

  • No in-game purchase options
  • 28 Steam achievements
  • Adjusted AI
  • Steam Trading Cards, Badges and  (TBC)
  • Revised tutorial
  • Full keyboard and Mouse control optimization
  • Rebalanced game economy taking into account no IAP
  • Microsoft Controller support
  • Removal of auto target options
  • Reduction in aiming recital size
  • Choice in cover style as DXHR (HOLD or Toggle)
  • Resolution options
  • Anti Aliasing option
  • Vsync
  • Control maps for keyboard and gamepad

As a carrot dangled to entice gamers to pre-order The Fall, Square Enix is offering the game of the year edition of the original Deus Ex (as in the Warren Spector classic from the year 2000) as a free bonus. As of this posting the pre-order has yet to hit Steam, but Square did note that it would also be available for a limited time post-launch.

Maybe when it’s $2.99 during one of the seasonal Steam sales. I like the Deus Ex series but I’m not sure how a PC port of a mobile game will hold up. Usually it’s the other way around.

Yeah, it’s far easier to downscale something to a more primitive format than the other way around. But I’m sure they know what they’re doing.
