Devs Share First Details on Tales From the Borderlands

Tales From the Borderlands is a ‘big fish story’ that will task players with discovering who is telling the truth, a Hyperion worker named Rhys or a con artist named Fiona.

That’s the word from Gearbox and Telltale Games, who revealed the first details of Tales From the Borderlands at the SXSW festival over the weekend, explaining how the project originated and what gamers can expect.

Get the lowdown from the devs themselves in the lengthy video from SXSW above, or if you don’t have 45 minutes to spare, here are the basics:

  • The story takes place after the events of Borderlands 2
  • Familiar characters will appear, but this will be a story focused on Fiona and Rhys
  • There will be plenty of combat, guns and “crazy over-the-top action scenes,” but it will be delivered in Telltale’s character-driven, cinematic style
  • Gearbox and Telltale got together on the project because the business development managers from both studios are friends

Tales From the Borderlands will be an episodic series with the first chapter coming in TBA 2014.
