Diablo 3 Adds Starter Edition, Lets You Play Act 1 Free

Blizzard has added a free-to-play “starter edition” for Diablo 3, allowing players to download the game client and give the game’s first act a whirl and advance up to Level 13.

Perhaps the biggest plus to the starter edition announcement is that you can get the game client just about any way that presents itself to you. According to Blizzard’s website, it’s possible to download the Diablo 3 client for free without paying for it (you’d have to pay for content beyond the first act, though), or you can pop in a friend’s Diablo 3 disc and install the game from there. More info is available right here.

The World of Warcraft developer previously did the same thing with its flagship MMO, allowing players to try the game out for free up to Level 20.

If you haven’t tried Diablo 3 yet, will the new starter edition entice you to give it a go?
