Diablo 3 Beta in August Is “Unlikely”

Cool Diablo 3 street art and a reveal of the game‘s end-game content were not the only D3-related news bits to issue from Gamescom this year. Blizzard game director Jay Wilson said during a press conference that Diablo 3′s beta will hit by September, hopefully before.

While we already knew the beta was being targeted for Q3 of this year, Wilson implied the possibility of an August launch. However, before we could get too excited about playing the beta before August closes out, Bashiok, the Diablo 3 community manager, clarified Wilson’s statement:

Anyway, to set expectations straight, beta in August is unlikely. But it shouldn’t be too long after.

The worst part of all this is that the odds of getting into the beta are extremely low; when the beta does finally launch, most of us will still be holding our breath.
