Diablo 3 Release Date, Beta Information
While no official release date for Diablo 3 or its beta has been stated by Blizzard employees, current evidence suggests D3 will launch in late 2011 or early 2012, with the beta beginning by the end of September.
On May 9, we learned during the Activision Blizzard First Quarter Calendar 2011 Results Conference Call that external beta testing is targeted for Q3 2011 and that the window hasn’t been closed on a 2011 release date for Diablo 3. Since then, Blizzard has not reneged on the potential of a 2011 release, but has affirmed that it won’t compromise the quality of the game to squeeze it out this year.
Although Blizzard has yet to give an official update on the beta, some information has come from Sixen, Battle.net forums MVP and website administrator of DiabloFans.com — a source of repute second only to Blizzard staff members themselves.
On the B.net forums, Sixen said:
Supposedly, the Beta will go live by September 30th, as long as there are no major delays. I’m going to BlizzHQ on Wednesday to playtest the Beta, as part of a press event as well… I think we’re almost there.
If all goes well within the Beta, it’s very possible to have a 2011 release.
Sixen went on to state that the upcoming Activision Blizzard Second Quarter Calendar 2011 Results Conference Call may reveal more information about the beta:
The conference call is on August 3rd, they won’t announce any information on the Collector’s Edition, nor for preorders. However, they may release information on the D3 Beta.
[In my opinion], they’ll tell us information about the beta at the Conference Call.
Stay tuned this Wednesday, August 3rd, for any information released during the Activision Blizzard Second Quarter Calendar 2011 Results Conference Call.
UPDATE 25/10/2011: A reputable leak gives us Blizzard’s tentative Diablo 3 release date.
