Diablo 3 Player Earns 10K On In Real World Auction House

You know those stories about people who figured out something really cool very early on and got rich doing it? Like the first dot com millionaires who convinced venture capitalists to shower their every stupid idea with money? Or the people who got really rich selling old comics before the industry cratered? You know, speculators who ruin everything for everyone else?

Yeah, just as predicted they’ve finally hit Diablo 3 hardcore. Redditor and Diablo 3 player WishboneTheDog has managed to pull down a cool 10 thousand buckeroos from the game’s real world auction. If that’s making your skepticism gland throb, he’s posted a screencap to Reddit proving it. “I have never botted, scammed, used any of the number of exploits, or cheated in any way whatsoever,” he insists on his Reddit AMA. “Before this game, I never made any money off of what I did because it was against the rules. Investing and trading in the item markets is part of how I have my fun, it wouldn’t make sense for me to cheat. Anyone who played D2 with hacks knows what I mean.”

So how’d he do it? Apparently very careful trading, but he hasn’t explained his process in full. He did, as VG 24/7 notes, mention that people tend to drift off once they finish the game.

So, have any of you made any money from the RWAH? If so, can we borrow some? Let us know in comments.

if it took him 100 hours, then pretty cool. if it took him 1000 hours, then pretty stupid cuz you get paid more per hour at Starbucks.

Not nearly as much, but with little effort, I got ~650$ from trading Team Fortress 2 stuff.

@Barry Skinner If you take into consideration that Starbucks most likely pays minimum wage (so lets say 8 bucks an hour) it would take you about 10 months to save up 10k dollars (not including living expenses). What Starbucks do YOU work at that you can say you can make 10k dollars in less than 3 months?

@KhalDrogo yes but the difference is in TF2, if you get caught selling your items then you’ll get banned. Everyone accepts the “blackmarket” of game items, but as soon as it get legitimized and people are actually making money off it, then it becomes news worthy.
