Diablo 3 Release Date Window Confirmed by Blizzard
We’ve been going nuts over the Diablo 3 beta around here, posting videos and other info about the game since the beta started. The only thing we (and plenty of other gamers) wanted to know was this: When could we play the full game?
In an effort to quell our rising ire over not having a release date, Blizzard has announced one. Well, not an exact one. In a press release this morning, they revealed that Diablo 3 will release in early 2012. Speaking about the release date, CEO Mike Morhaime said,
With every game we make, the temptation is always very strong to launch as soon as possible. However, we didn’t put so many years of work into Diablo III to release a game that was almost ready. The beta test is going very well, and we look forward to making the most of the extra time we’re taking to deliver an experience that lives up to our vision for the game and the expectations of our players. Next year is going to be an incredibly busy one for Blizzard, and we hope an incredibly fun one for Blizzard gamers.
With the extra time gained from moving the release into next year, Blizzard will extend the beta test, and is considering adding more people than they originally intended. This is good news to the folks who haven’t been selected for the beta yet. If you’re one of them, our walkthrough videos could help you get a good sense of what you’re missing.
