Diablo 3 Release Date Leaked — January 17 [Rumor]

Many Blizzard fans were expecting the announcement of a Diablo 3 release date at this year’s BlizzCon. According to a recent leak, so was Blizzard.

If you want the quick and dirty version, Diablo 3 may be released January 17, 2012.

A skeptic at heart, I take any unofficial information with a grain of salt and encourage you to do the same, but if this leak is a hoax, I applaud the creator. The image in question was derived from a blog that has allegedly been leaking info from the video game industry since 2010. In March 2011, following the reveal of some big Diablo 3 information, including word of the Auction House, a feature that wasn’t announced until months later, the website was taken down.

In August, the website resurfaced, under new management. The former webmaster, Daeity, allegedly shut down his blog not just because of cease and desist notices and other legal threats, but also because his sources “were getting close to being caught and he didn’t want to risk their families or livelihood.”

Now that we’ve established the credibility of Daeity as a source of leaks, we turn again to the image of an email allegedly sent by Daeity, which contains what appear to be two slides listing topics that will be covered at BlizzCon 2011. Everything on the list was dead-on, except for the two bullet points about the Diablo 3 release date:

  • Diablo 3 Release Date will be announced
  • Dates are tentative: November 24, 2011, Backup Q1 2012: Jan 17, 2012

As we know, no announcement was made regarding Diablo 3′s release date. Because this image surfaced Saturday, after the major BlizzCon 2011 announcements, it seemed as though this was a hoax, with the author simply inserting the release date announcement among nuggets of already confirmed information.

However, while the Gmail date of August 17 could have been Photoshopped, if you scroll to the bottom, you’ll note that imgur timestamped the upload at “2 months ago.” Suddenly, this image is frighteningly accurate.

Then why was it wrong about the release date announcement?

It was only in late September that Mike Morhaime said that Diablo 3 will be released in early 2012, regretting that the Q4 2011 release had to be pushed back. If the information in the image leak is factual, that means Blizzard would have switched to its tentative backup release date of January 17, 2012.

Still, why no announcement?

That’s the unanswered question. At the end of the day, we’re left with the possible knowledge that, a couple months ago, Blizzard intended January 17, 2012 to be their backup release date for Diablo 3. Has the game plan changed since then? We don’t know. But don’t be surprised to see Diablo 3 this January.

My question to you: Can an imgur image be changed once uploaded? Can I upload an image in August, then swap it out for another image today while retaining the original August timestamp? If so, how? From my limited experience with imgur, this isn’t possible.

Interesting. Here’s hoping it is, here’s hoping it’s not… I want Diablo III to live up to my dreams of this moment, which it can’t because they haven’t invented a truely tron like experience. Still aa fanboy can dream.

Well, considering it’s blizzard, I won’t complain if the game comes out in 2012 or 2013 (in fact, later means that it’ll give me a better chance to actually finish my PhD…). Then again, considering the amount of trailers released, I really do hope that Blizz will opt to release the game sooner rather than later (and not turn D3 into a Duke Nukem 3D). Hell, knowing Blizzard, they can just release the game and then give it a gazillion patches afterwards.

TOO MANY GAMES, TOO LITTLE TIME!

Welp, this should be interesting to say the least. I just hope they have a filter for arena to exclude bought items.

I don’t think D3 will be released on that date. As you said, the development teams agreed, at then end of September 2011, that they won’t be able to finish the game before the end of 2011. They had about 100 days left, at that time. January 17th, 2012 would have given them 17 more days. I think if they came to the conclusion they won’t be able to finish, I doubt they would think that given 17% more time it should be doable. If anything, the date could have been pushed back by 50%, or more, but 17 more days is just too close to their original goal.

Blizzard said that the game should ship around 6 months after the start of the beta. D3 beta began around the beginning of September so that would place the release date sometime in March. Maybe Blizzard is looking to speed things up and just patch the fallout.

NotInTown

On October 26, 2011 at 2:00 pm

I don’t think it will be released in January either, it’s just too early.

@Row: On top of that, from a marketing point of view, it does not make sense to release it in January — they will miss out on the holiday sales and most gamers will be playing the games they got for christmas.

Blizzard’s #1 priority is to make money (and a lot of it!), they would not sacrifice potential sales in order to release the game at a bad time of year.. just doesn’t make sense

My guess is late march/early april.

Blizzard released the Burning Crusade on January 16, 2007, and it smashed sales records, selling nearly 2.4 million copies just that day.

Blizzards game are on a inelastic demand doesnt change the demand of the game…It will sell at any time of the year…Blizzard releases the game when they think it will be ready…Im going with that the game will be realeased around March!

Vago

On October 28, 2011 at 6:11 am

Makes sense. They make the offer for Free Diablo with a 1 year purchase of WoW sub. Why on earth would anyone take that commetment if they KNEW the game would be releasing in 3 Months. Smart move by Blizzard IMO, get the people locked in then announce the games release date.

Skeptic

On October 30, 2011 at 6:01 pm

The title of the imgur picture is “Interesting find about possible release date.” In August, the release date of D3 would’ve been important, but so would ALL of the other information in this image.

MaliceRaven

On October 30, 2011 at 7:26 pm

I went to GameStop the other day, and i asked them if they had an estimate release date. They told me that they were told March 1st. Not an official date. But March makes sense, if they’re selling it Jan 17th, why not work overtime and get it out for christmas?

Penetrate

On November 4, 2011 at 4:43 pm

Everyone is overlooking a key ingredient to this equation. The demographic for Blizzard games is 16-30yr old’s. Most of them have menial day jobs that don’t afford them much money for extra stuff around Christmas. However, January is TAX TIME. That is state money, filtered directly to Blizzard. Most people get full returns in this age bracket, due to low income. They spend their tax money on things THEY want. I would obviously wait to release until Jan-April.

Delay got to do with Bioware’s Dragon Age 2 breakthrough in specific game mechanics notably multiplayer generalization. Then there’s another 11.11.11 box office hit Skyrim, Blizzard might have been upgrading Diablo 3 further up all possibilities and current tech been maxed out. My guess Q2 2012. It should be anyways.

Best Buy and wal mart dont have that much to lose if they say the wrong date, gamestop does seeing as how they only sell games.

On November 11, 2011 at 5:27 pm

You understand that at this point, they can release it in january and are still making a profit easily, even if they have to go back and patch it up. By signing up for wow for a full year, and having to pay the full year, the users are getting D3 for free. So they basically pay for it in 4 months of subscription time paid, plus, another 8 months they HAVE to pay, even if they dont wanna play WoW anymore.

Solemn

On November 12, 2011 at 6:21 am

For those who are looking at the one year commitment to wow, you are overlooking one key point. Yes u get D3 for free, and a free mount (not a big deal), but u also get a guarantee spot in the next wow exp beta. So even if u get tired of cata, and d3. You still technically got another game from that deal.

Zorro

If this shall be true then we will get a release date in 9 days from now.. And it will be nice if they come with a release date at 17th January

thisismyname

On November 16, 2011 at 1:29 am

Perhaps blizzard are worried about how their yearly profits are going to look. Many WoW users will switch over to D3. By offering free D3 with a one year WoW subscription they boost WoW profits before the impending slump when D3 is released. By releasing D3 later they will see more of the sales in the 2012 financial year. This way there sales figures look good for 2011 and 2012…

Berserk545

I just reserved 2 copies of the collectors edition at a local game stop and the clerk said their system originally said January 17, 2012 and now the updated release date is march 2, 2012. The guy who sold me the game, has been in the beta and is all about diablo 3 so I would imagine this information is correct.

bob

On November 17, 2011 at 9:42 am

Man this game looks awesome and I want to now but considering they are still handing out beta keys, it makes me think the game is not close to a final product. When it is though, they still have to produce the game, box and ship it so that will take some time. Furthermore those guys at blizzard have families that they will be spending time with over the holidays so that’s going to slow things down more. Like one guy before me said the january 17 is only a little bit over their original finish date and that was ssomething that was thought about in september. I’m thinking a march or april untill I get my witch doctor and barb!

the beta is more than i expected. here is looking forward to the full release (Y) p.s. no matter how strong the leek source is. its blizzard… they change there mind on things more than any other organisation i know. but 17/01/2012 maybe.

March is a fail as far as I am concerned. I have had D3 preordered Walmart since november 25th 2010 they kept pushing back the release date until finally it stepped over 2011. The new release date that I looked at today was February 7th, walmart says I should have it by Feb 16th at the latest. So far it hasnt been pushed back again.

I’m tired of waiting, they need to man up or go lay down and forget about it, blizzard has to be the worst most unreliable business I have ever seen, yes their work is good and their finished product is amazing but wow in my line of work if I showed up 3 months late i would need to bring body bags! This is ridiculous nonsense, I know one person cannot make a change on this but you have got to be kidding me.. I’m just glad blizzard doesn’t make important things like medical supplies or toilet paper!! Lol or we would never get any thing done.. All I say is I hope someone from blizzard reads this because they have not only failed us but they have failed their county and ruined our name as being reliable workhorses!

iampnp

On November 20, 2011 at 9:43 pm

@ The muffin man
This country has lost the reliable workhorse reputation when our economy slid away due to our own self greed. This has been Blizzard’s MO since before most of the gamers interested were born.

Everyone should be fully expecting this, considering SC2 took almost a year past the “original expected release date” to come out. I would not be surprised to see it for 4th of July weekend. Think about when the friends and family beta came out for SC2 and draw a timeline from there with D3. Probably your best bet.

@DarknessAnonymous – same here xD

As for everyone who is complaining that it is not out yet, look at yourselves. you are anxious and in suspense. you can’t wait for it. That’s what Blizzard wants. IT wants the hypeand the suspense. the more impatient you grow, the more likely you are to buy it when it does finally get released. Diablo II: LoD was probably the most hacked/bugged/exploited game to ever be on the market. I know because I was one of them. I could do phenomenal things to and with that game, ON Blizzard’s (or to be technical, Battle.net’s) Closed Realms. In fact a clan member of mine was banned due to hacking – and then proceeded to hack back into his account. Blizzard and Battle.net want to ensure this doesn’t happen again. ever. this game has to be so secure it isn’t even funny. especially because you can buy/sell items online right through the game itself. now we are talking debit card numbers, credit card info, bank account numbers, all at the more experienced hacker’s fingertips. Blizzard and Battle.net need to take every precaution necessary to prevent that from happening to you, or me, or anyone else playing the game. that’s the skinny. I can’t wait for the game to come out either, i’ll probably become a hermit for months if not years on end. hopefully i can make a living off the game, that would be nice. But until the game releases, don’t you dare bash the best video game developer’s programmers testers illustrators, and whatever else goes into this. don’t you dare. you shut your damn mouth and accept the fact that they WILL take their time as they have with EVERY game they’ve made, and when it does finally come out, it will be glorious, like all the others previous. until that time comes though, shut up, quit your ing, and wait. ;)

blanmgr

On November 25, 2011 at 4:45 pm

I want them..Blizzard to take their time and get it right and do not make the same mistake as Ubisoft with Might and Magic Heroes 6. Their game was not ready and so buggy that all players are upset and do not even go online to play. The game has only been out for a little over a month. So, let them take their time and get it right so the Diablo players do not be disappointed like the Might and Magic Heroies 6 players are now.

Dabeardedwonder

Just like nick said blizzard is the premier pc developer out there. Think of the games they have had there not rushing d3 for one because they do not want it hacked. From a business stand point they really don’t need to rush it either. Whoever said that blizzard doesn’t exist anymore is totally wrong. A company that successful would not just up and disband. Not to mention the billions they have made off of WoW. Even if the economy hurt them the amount of money they have made is PLENTY to keep them afloat. They don’t need to rush it they are just raking in cash from WoW, that game probably has one of the most loyal fan bases in history. I play d2 and Lod so many times so I am just itching for another one. Blizzard will come out with d3, the diablo series along with WoW and Starcraft are there cash cows they’re not gonna not release it that would be idiotic. They are being so secretive about this because of the hackers from d2 because of hackers no offense guys. They want to make a game that will take a very long time for people to hack. The more information they give about the game the more the hackers have to go on. No offense to the hackers if I could do what people can do with that I would to. Like nick said to the credit cards probably have a lot to do with it too. Don’t worry guys d3 will be out soon and knowing blizz the fact that they took this long to develop this game I personally think that this will be one of the most polished games yet. Hope to see you guys out there very soon.

I own and have been addicted to every blizzard game made, from orcs and humans up to a 6 years span of world of warcraf. you people dont understand, blizzard isnt on of those “lets make a quick buck off a game companies, counless interviews with dev team they alwayse say, “it will be finished when its finished, starcraft 1 for example, they went over release date counless times cause it wasnt ready and in its time it was one of the best rts’s ever made, diablo 2 same thing, one of the best rpgs ever made, now look at skyrim and its glitches, do u really want another game like that? or let bliz make another epic sequel to an amazing game longer it takes beter quality the game will be, (rome was not built in a day)

Cristian

Better they take it slow and release a stable, playable version. Unlike HOMM6.
I had a feeling like I was a damn tester when I played that and for that reason I’m not going to buy it until a gold release comes up.

Blizzard should take it’s time and assure quality and balance. They’re the only ones left… Other companies just rush products out while they’re so full of bugs they’re not even playable.

jordan

On December 4, 2011 at 11:14 pm

to quote Analadisa “blizzard isnt on of those “lets make a quick buck off a game companies”

That is the biggest pile of . lets look at WoW, there is endless amounts of pets and mounts you can buy, and a monthly sub you Have to pay in order to play the game. Blizzard is all about a money grab. always have been always will be. Diablo 3 is going to be another money grab. If they are doing what they say they are doing with the auction. well then i am very disappointed.

Cody

On December 5, 2011 at 6:47 am

To jordan, your missing the keyword “quick” they want money and the reason they make money is because they take the time to make a game worth the price tag. complaning that a business is after the money is pretty much retarded. of course they want to make money, but they do it in the most efficent way. they give us, the customer, exactly what we want. A finished product, not just some pile of they decided to release for christmas sales. Blizzard will sell they don’t need to worry about anything except for pleasing who is buying the game. they arent after a “quick” buck, theyre after keeping a loyal fanbase happy because the way you make money in any business is keeping the consumer happy. rushing the game and just patching the out of it wouldnt make anyone happy, getting us a game where we can play it for a while and only patching it when it needs to be patched because of new content or because someone found a hack is what would make us happy. The reason they have pets and mounts that you can buy is simply because of the fact people want them. they give us a service we want (mounts and or pets) and they get our money. its a win win. Also yes you have to pay to play the game because they are using very expensive servers and cant afford to keep them up by themselves. It also makes the game less cluttered, because look at anything else you dont pay for, its either loaded with ads or the only way to get the full effect out of the game is to buy a load of add ons. look at xbox live vs psn, psn is free because it has a low key server farm, less security and a bigger desire to play solo games. xbox, offers way better servers, very tight security and the desire to play online. its all about pleasing your customer.

I think it’s easy to see a clear division in all of the comments. Some want it now, others will wait. Each takes its own philosophy.

I remember the wait for SCI… I think if I can remember that, then I can remember what Blizzard is aiming to do with D3.

I would imagine that anyone who has ever thought about the possibility of Diablo III becoming a reality will be purchasing Blizzard’s D3 product. Period. No matter what the release date is.

For the sake of argument, what if D3 is a turd? Perhaps it will be one of the finest polished samples you have ever seen? I would think so, despite the wait you had to endure.

Adrian

On December 7, 2011 at 12:45 am

Guys, Blizzard aims for the highest possible sales and gaming time.
They will not be able to achieve that if they launch the game while other great titles are fresh on the market (Assassin’s Creed/Skyrim/Batman Arkham City/ COD:MW 3, etc). People will simply not be able to afford (money/time) another title. Also let’s not forget that they just released patch 4.3 for WoW, which contains Cataclysm’s end game raid.
On the other hand March is an unlikely release date also. At least Mass Effect 3 will come out and that game sells huge.
My best bet is that it will come out sometime between mid Jan – mid Feb.

Food for thought… Blizzard and activision are now the same company. Activision rushed the release of mw3 to compete with bf3. Now that game is a genetic clone of mw2. I don’t want them to rush because their rushes have ty outcomes. Including d2 lod. It was extremely rushed and a lost suckier than it was supposed to be. It was good, but not blizzard good. I hope activision doesn’t poison their QC. Because if cod has taught us anything, it’s that you don’t need to spend for time to sell games, but you do if those games aren’t going to be carbon copies and cheap ripoffs.

My understanding was that Blizz were running a short beta for D3, not their consistant 6 month and I vaguely remember reading this quite early in 2011. It had something to do with the Blizz team focussing on prominent release for 2011 (Ofcourse this was before our hearts were shattered with the Blizz annoucement on a Q1 2012 release).
I also remember the close friends and family beta began 3 months before the release of the generic beta in October.
So in my opinion – The beta testing has been in place for 6 months.

There is hope that the announcement of the release will be made at the VGA 2011 this weekend – Infact, I cannot see any reason why there wouldnt be…
Blizz have a history of announcing a release 1-3 months before its available. If Blizz continue this tradition, that means the game would be released between January 12 – March 2012.

Things have been different with the development for D3. As we know the game is ready, so what’s really holding them back?! Korea maybe? (for legal issues prompted by the RMAH)? Or maybe Blizzard just can’t handle simple premise, and “polish” any minor bugs irrelevant to game play with a simple patch or 2 a month down the track of the release.

At this stage, the ball is Blizzards court.
And I guess we will all find out soon.

However, Blizzard have you all by the balls! =)

You can edit images on imgur after they’re posted. You cannot add new images, however the editing tool on imgur allows you to add text. Not surprisingly, the text that you can edit with, is the exact font as the one in the picture above. This person could have left the blue boxes blank, and added the text anytime. Not to say that they did that, but it is a possibility.

ATTENTION to all those quoting retailers “release” or “ship” dates. Let me make it simple;THEY DO NOT KNOW. I worked at Gamestop for 4 years and ran a GameCrazy for 7 years. They do not have any inside scoop. They need a date on file in order the generate the sku so they can TAKE PREORDERS. They guess what they think/hope what the release date may be, but they have ZERO impact or inside knowledge. Blizzard has always said that their games will be done when they are done. They don’t promise dates for this exact reason. So unless it’s on Blizzards page, it is PURE SPECULATION.

A company that develops a game for 7 or 8 years is not in any rush to get something out the door that may be flawed. Given that the beta was just released in Sept, I don’t expect it til at least March at the earliest.

I’ve waited this long, I can wait a while longer. Like someone mentioned earlier, just look at skyrim. That game is so full of bugs and glitches, and the ps3 version becomes unplayable after a certain amount of playtime due to lag and framerate issues. Bethesda rushed it out before it was ready, Blizzard won’t make that mistake.

Just so all of you know, all the stores including Gamestop and Walmart and all of them are using that as a place holder. What companies do is set a place holder date to allow people to pre-order the game. I work at Gamestop so I know this for a fact. Just because we have it listed as Feb 1st doesn’t mean it will actually come out then. It can either be pushed forward and come out in January or pushed back and come out in March or later. Put it this way, at least Blizzard plans on releasing the game sometime in the first half of 2012. That in itself is great news.

ST1

On December 14, 2011 at 12:05 am

I work for Future Shop (Canadian division of best buy), we have it listed to be released 22/02/12. I doubt this is purely speculative as we are giving away discounts on d3 with the purchase of other games, Skyrim for instance. We also have some small posters for it up in the entertainment section in anticipation of it’s release. Either way, I’ll likely know with some certainty in late January or early February as the shipments always come in earlier than release dates by at least a week before we are legally allowed to place and sell the product.

Dabeardedwonder

On December 28, 2011 at 10:18 am

Well I’m going to say that you can count out September because they have already released trailers and gameplay footage of the game so if they wait till September there gonna have to keep putting something out there to the public to keep us interested. If they wait till September people will have already seen half the game. From what I know about betas when they release a beta to the public they are pretty much ready for release they just want to get a feel for how the game will perform with a massive amount of people playing it instead of a group of testers and to find small little bugs they miss when they are developing it. So the game is probably ready now to be honest. They could have pushed it back to whenever blizz was thinking of and are now ahead of schedule and just polishing it up to kill time until the release date they planned. Also blizz is probably being very careful with d3 so it doesn’t turn out like d2 you guys know that d2 was hacked ALOT and look at how they are doing the beta they are being extremely careful. Only releasing it to a small group at a time. They don’t want another diablo game being hacked like the last one. It may be wishful thinking but I’m sticking to the jan 17 date I think with the trailers and where the beta is, jan makes sense but we shall see.

Jan 17th for release is the last thing i have seen. As for the game it looks like big flop! The one thing that was going to make this game great was the ability to play hardcore like the you could ages ago. But because we have mostly care bear farming types apparently running the gaming world. Blizzard has made every effort to simply duplicate the WOW pvp style play. (what a joke). Remember when you had to run for your life to keep your stuff in the electronic world? Being on the edge of your seat and yelling at the screen because you might lose some of you stuff. I truly miss those great games. (EVE Online is the only one left). Back to the grind and farming to kill time i guess……

How will PvP be implemented in Diablo III?
While Diablo III is designed primarily for cooperative multiplayer, we are building in support for competitive player-vs.-player gameplay as well. We’re focusing on team-based PvP in an arena setting, and we are being careful to avoid PvP features that can easily lead to griefing, such as the ability to go hostile at will. We also plan to integrate Battle.net’s matchmaking system, a progression-based ranking system, and more.

Why doesn’t Blizzard just admit the truth that Guild Wars was created from the ashes of ALL those Blizzard North employee’s !?
In other words, can Blizzard actually make a decent product, aka
what D3 is supposed to be. ???
It has been almost 10 Years folks !!!
Can D3 even complete with the like of Skyrim, GW2,… anymore
now ?

Until those greedy (fail) Blizzard CEO’s stop puttin everything into their WoW cash-cow,
then there WILL NEVER BE A D3.

….just carry on ppl, nuthin’ here to see anymore.

rickster

On January 4, 2012 at 12:04 pm

There are NO dev’s/programmers left at Blizzard, except for cartoonish WoW ones.
Everyone else has literally left or have been re-signed to their WoW cash-cow.
Guild Wars, is the only D3 around ppl.
The sooner we get that thru our heads, the better.
Blizzard deserves nuthin’ less than bankruptcy.

Sergio

On January 4, 2012 at 11:35 pm

Excitement is in the air, to say the least. For those who said d3 is going to be a fail, my question is why are you looking into the game so much if you are sure of that answer. What matters is, it will be a fresh game, which is a feeling so many have forgotten because wow went from a game straight to an addiction, a comfortability, a never ending spiral if you may. I miss the good days when a game could be beaten, and the achilles heel of wow is that it is never ending. You work so hard to get gear that will be replaced in a matter of months. P.S. Rickster, it is amusing to me that you think blizzard deserves bankruptcy when you yourself are a part of the reason they are not.

Jesse

On January 5, 2012 at 8:14 am

They’re trying to do away with griefing? That’s what the franchise is BUILT on! I have many fond memories of some jerk in Godly Plate of the Whale coming into my game and one shotting me for my ear, only to have me come back with my tweaked 1M+ dmg King’s Bastard Sword and return the favor. Such were the dangers of Diablo, and when you found some people that were cool to run with, you tried to keep in touch. Give me hardcore, and give me death! Playing Diablo iron man style was some of the most fun multiplayer I’ve ever experienced.

The best info I saw was Feb 2nd 2010 and it was confirmed by a commercial resaler but that was before this released yeasterday.

The Latest:
South Korean game rating board could throw a spanner in Diablo 3′s simultaneous worldwide release.

Published on Jan 4, 2012

Diablo 3′s release could be jeopardised by the most recent refusal by South Korea’s Game Rating Board to pass the game for release in the country.”Committee members are conflicted about what to do with Diablo 3 because of Blizzard’s information on the game’s ‘auction house’ feature,” a board spokesman told Korea Times.

The high proportion of gamers in South Korea’s population are huge fans of Blizzard’s games Starcraft, WoW and Diablo, but Diablo 3′s real-money auction house could represent a problem for the board which has strict guidelines to limit videogame gambling.”In principle, we are always committed to a global release,” a spokesperson for Blizzard said.

Diablo 3 is currently in closed beta, while Blizzard has yet to set a final release date for the action-RPG.

Hope this helps,

Juice

BLIZZARD

On January 5, 2012 at 7:43 pm

Guys, Diablo 3 may not be released till late 2012. The game is completely ready and there is not any technical problem about the game. The only reason is the policy of the company. As you can see, most of the World of Warcraft players would move into Diablo 3. Then Blizzard has to support both D3 and WoW and It means Blizzard has to increase its workers but would make about the same amount of money. The game was completely ready to be released in late 2009, but Blizzard is trying to make delay as much as possible. There is high possibility that the release date of Diablo 3 would be three months after the next update of World of Warcraft.

See you all in D3 hopefully very soon.

I don’t know what is with people publishing bullsh*t articles, if anybody want to have games released early, especially those that millions of consumers are waiting for, then it’s better to be patient and not tell anyone that you know when the product is coming out.

How it works is that the producers want to wait until certain games come out in order to get the most amount of money possible before they release their product. If people find out when the product will be released then the release date of the product will be pushed back over and over again making it almost impossible for the game to be released on time. People reading this article need to be patient.

Another thing; Diablo 3 is at the bottom of Blizzard’s production list, so while they are pouring money into Starcraft II: heart of the Swarm, and the World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria, Diablo 3 will have to wait until Blizzard is nearly finished producing the two expansions for the games that are already out before Diablo 3 will ever be produced.

BLIZZARD

On January 5, 2012 at 8:55 pm

No Sir, The point is Blizzard wants to have a ready game all the time. So when WoW or other games are done, Blizzard can immediately sell the new game which in this case is Diablo 3. I do not have any problem with the company policy. What was the point of showing ready game to the world when Blizzard does not want to sell at that time? Come on guys, Blizzard just does not want to risk and have a few online games at the same time. At least the can say we do not sell the game for example by 2013 so we don’t have to check it again and again. Blizzard is loosing too many players to other online games.

Randall S

I am confident that blizzard knows what they are doing. I have pre ordered the game, and will wait until my dying day to play if thats the sacrifice diablo 3 requests of me. Its a hard road, been many years, but what an experience of feelings of temptation and betrayal. It will be worth the wait. Patience has always been one of lifes greatest, hardest lessons. Its hard to imagine how much excitement will explode from this agonizing wait when blizzard drops the bomb at our feet. We will all be greatful, and probably lose our sleep…..jobs…..families…. and morals…! Probably a reality for some serious gamers I happen to know who have been on Obamas unemployment package for about 4 straight years! But no they just sit on their asses watching people start Rumors about their product, that will eventually lead hatred against the company! Blizzard just needs to come out and let us know, the game is still in the works we are trying to fix glitches or what knot and we are expecting around this time. JUST COME OUT AND SAY SOMETHING DAMN!!!

I understand Blizzard to not fix a release date. In software management, only 2 of theses things can be fixed at a time:
- Release date
- Feature set
- Code quality

Blizzard has a reputation for good feature set (fun game) and game stability.
They will release when it will be ready, and that’s the only way to release a good game.
