Diablo 3 Release Date: May 15 — OFFICIAL

No more rumors, no more speculation — it is official. Diablo 3 releases May 15.

If you don’t want to stand in line at a midnight release, you can be ready to play the minute the servers go live by pre-purchasing the game digitally on Battle.net today. When you pre-purchase Diablo 3, you will be able to download an encrypted version of the game that will be unlocked upon release on May 15.

As we knew, there’s a two-month period to wait between today’s announcement and Diablo 3′s release, and while I guessed at a June launch date, I’ve never been happier to be wrong.

World of Warcraft players can get Diablo 3 for free by buying the World of Warcraft Annual Pass — but they’ll have to act fast, because the the promotion will be ending at 12:01 a.m. PDT on May 1, 2012.

I am so stoked! The home stretch is always the hardest wait.

The waiting time would be so much easier with a betakey which early retweeters should have gotten….

- No PVP
- No Lan
- constant internet connection required
- no atributes
- ingame real money auction house —>pay to win is gonna the top ladder.
- 2 classes are pretty much dead from the get-go due to the 1h/2h attack speed
- “But it’s ok CUZ THERE’S NO PVP” says ActivisionBlizzard
- Rune words were in but again thrown out.

PC gamers are driving themselves into the ing grave. They made sure that the auction house is ready for release but not other actual core mechanics of the diablo franchise? DAFAQ?

Whatever.

Since having been in most of the beta I can say I’m not too happy about the news. I love the Diablo series but Diablo 3 has turned out to be a huge letdown for me. I have no doubt it will sell well when it’s released but just like ME3, there is going to be a huge backlash when people get their hands on the game.

I would rather them continue to work on the game and release it next year after a much needed overhaul.
