DICE Devs Create Half-Life 2 Mod Mission: Improbable

Half-Life 2 is a solid game on its own, but the title’s mod-ability has led to some awesome projects. Sometimes they’re full conversions, other times they’re smaller additions — and Mission: Improbable is the latter.

Think of this as a level you never got to play. In it, Gordon Freeman is sent to reactivate a listening post for the Resistance, and like most of Freeman’s adventures, there’s a lot of shooting and danger to be found on the way there. The mod also includes a lot of the coolest things about Half-Life 2, like vehicles and disparate environments.

Most notable, perhaps, about the mod is that it was created by a pair of developers from Battlefield 3 studio DICE.

It’s also easy to deal with: Just grab the .exe file from the Mission: Improbable ModDB page and it’ll self-extract and install itself.

I played through this mod last night. It’s very fun and well-made. I got a good laugh out of it too.
