DICE Unlocks Operation Hastings for all Platforms
Since the launch of the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam expansion on Dec. 21 of last year, players have been working toward unlocking the Operation Hastings map. Each platform was tasked with performing 69 million team actions. Last week, the PC community became the first to unlock the map, and now DICE has unlocked it for all.
Apparently in the spirit of the season, DICE decided to go ahead and make the map available to both PS3 and XBox 360 owners, even though they had yet to reach the threshold of team actions. On the Battlefield Blog, the announcement reads:
It’s safe to say that 2010 ended with a bang for the whole Battlefield community. But, since we want to start this new year with a big of a bang as we ended it, we are enabling Operation Hastings for the PS3 and Xbox 360 as of today!
So cancel all your plans, turn on your tv’s, fire up your consoles and let the Battle For Hastings begin!
Operation Hastings is a semi-faithful recreation of the Battlefield: Vietnam map of the same name. If you don’t recall it by name, I feel certain you will once you see it for the first time.
DICE has promised that there will be more content for Bad Company 2 coming, but don’t forget that they have Battlefield 3 in the works for later this year. No one knows how that will affect any DLC releases.
