Did Infinity Ward Recycle a Building From Call of Duty 4 in MW3? (VIDEO)

If we’re to judge Modern Warfare 3 based on its Metacritic user ratings, then it’s a steaming pile of s***. But would it dare go so far as to rip assets straight out of Call of Duty 4?

One astute observer of detail noticed, while playing MW3′s story mode, a building that looked strikingly similar to the CoD4 multiplayer map named Pipeline.

Watch the video to judge for yourself:

Call of Duty 4 is a four-year-old game built on a different engine than Modern Warfare 3 — a mapper couldn’t have simply copy-pasted the building into MW3. The geometry needed to be rebuilt, along with the textures and meshes. Is it truly “recycling” if the only thing carried over is the layout? What if this was an intentional Easter Egg?

What’s your take? Is this blatant recycling or an homage to a great CoD4 map?

Built on a different engine? Are you sure about that, or was that some bull one of those Activision guys claimed?

I actually noticed this but thats like saying “GAH!!!! Nintendo reused the entire of Ocarina of Time and just moved it about a bit and lo and behold Majora’s Mask!!!…..”
Seriously why would people care as long as the overall game is good xD

Regarding the engine,

Upon further investigation, it looks like they are using the same base engine with MW3 as with CoD4 — they just updated it and gave it a different name. Those sneaky bastards.

Sneaky ing russian.

Then again, who is suprised? You could tell by watching the trailer and looking at the screens that this was more rehashed .

Uhh. MW3 is based on the MW2 engine, which is on the CoD4 engine, which is on the Quake 3 engine…

So yes, they could copy paste and update the texture res. But it very well could be a little easter egg too.

Guess What

Hey guess what? MW3 is made on the same engine as CoD4 just with refreshed/new physics, graphics and more. AND Infinity Ward made CoD4 so what is this your pissing and whining about?
