Did Rockstar Slip GTA V Images Into Max Payne 3 Multiplayer?

Despite Rockstar Games’ maddening refusal to actually announce the release date for GTA V, the developer and their corporate parent, Take-Two Interactive, haven’t exactly been shy about dropping hint after hint. GTA V has been subject to an intense amount of speculation that is almost certainly part of their hype machine plan. And the latest evidence that Rockstar is basically just screwing with us comes from Max Payne 3.

An intrepid member of the GTA Forums named CantPauseToast has discovered what appears to be a clever Easter eggs slipped into the Max Payne 3 multiplayer. In the Tiete River Docks’s map on Deathmatch, they stumbled upon the following accessible room (located in the corner of the map).

Going into the room, the player can walk up to the wall and see the following photos taped to it, including these beauties.

Note that these planes don’t actually appear in Max Payne 3. It looks like it’s probably just some very intricate graphic added to an already packed-with-detail game. But CantPauseToast noticed that these planes bear a striking resemblance to two already shown off in last year’s trailer for GTA V.

This doesn’t add anything new to our understanding of GTA V, and it’s possible this is just extraneous detail. But if CantPauseToast is right, then Rockstar are some devious bastards indeed. They’re certainly brilliant at making us continue to write about a game that doesn’t have a release date. Cough cough laugh.
