Codemasters has announced that Colin McRae DIRT has sold 500k copies world wide. According to GamesIndustry.biz the DIRT demo has also been downloaded over 500,000 times for Xbox 360 and PC.
“This success with DIRT is a text-book case of our product development, marketing and distribution efforts all working together to ignite consumer interest and drive sales,” said Rod Cousens, CEO of Codemasters.
Over half the sales are from the US. DIRT debuted fourth on UK all formats charts and is second only to Forza 2 on the Xbox 360 charts.

I just recently purchased this game. I have had alot of fun with this game, not only does it have really good graphics, but it also is fun and challenging. Most newer games just rely on graphics now, and then the game ends up turning out really shitty…lol…But i’m glad to see that there are still some people out there who want the game to play good before it looks good…Keep up the good work guys!
