Dishonored Dev Diary Talks About Creating an Immersive World

In the second Dishonored developer diary video, the creators at Arkane Studios talk about the art style of the game and the world they’ve created along with it.

The video reveals that the original inspiration for the game setting of Dunwall was London in 1666, the last year of the Black Death plague. Over time as the art style and story evolved, the setting was moved forward in time, finally landing somewhere in the 1800s and adopting a more Steampunk look and feel.

The video also talks about character design and the decisions that went into creating the “not-photo-realistic” art style that characterizes Dishonored. It’s pretty interesting.
