Dishonored – Developer Documentary Part 3 (VID)
The latest developer diary for Dishonored has released. While the second video covered the topic of immersion, this one is all about the creative, choice-filled experience of playing the game.
Harvey Smith, Co-Creative Director, said “The thing we really wanted to do was give the player decisions to make, give the player choices and have some consequences to those choices.”
This is so incredibly important in interactive media, and from the looks of it, Dishonored is nailing this aspect of game design.
Smith went on to say, “I think we may have made the first assassination game in which you don’t have to kill anybody.”
Sylvain Praloix, Lead Gameplay Programmer, said, “The player can use a variety of powerful combinations. For instance, he will be able to stop time, start using the crossbow to shoot his enemies, the arrows then return to normal speed and all the enemies will be dead. I think that people will be surprised at what players will be able to achieve.”
